Sujet : Dynamics of microcapsules in flow

Résumé :
The main objective of my doctoral project is to obtain the mechanical properties of spherical soft capsules. An elongational flow setup is used to measure the capsule membrane properties. Membrane instability of capsule, for example wrinkling, in such setup is also investigated.

Correlations of wrinkles and membrane properties are built by combining flow-induced measurement and thin elastic film detection. Dynamics of non-spherical microcapsule in shear flow involve membrane rotation, tumbling and shape oscillation, etc. To understand that, fabrication of non-spherical capsule is another part of my project.
