« Complex interfaces in confined flows »

Jeudi 28 Novembre 2019 à 15h Salle A.Rassat du bâtiment E de l’UFR de Chimie

Résumé :
Interfaces have a key role in industrial processes such as foaming and defoaming, liquid deposition, or drying, in the fields as various as metallurgy, cosmetics, food science, etc. Despite of their importance, a lot remain to be understood, especially regarding the coupling between composition and mechanical response of the interface which is the aim of interfacial rheology.

First, I will introduce multilayer polymer membranes build on liquid interface for encapsulation : adsorption dynamics, rheology in model geometries, and microfluidics characterization of capsules. I will then present a new phenomenon of gold particle sinking into fused silica by the combined effect of surface melting, capillarity and osmotic forces. I will conclude the talk by presenting the recent advances in the study of Marangoni flows of soluble surfactants.
